On April 24th, a training session was conducted by the German Corporation for International Cooperation in Tajikistan (GIZ Tajikistan) in Dushanbe with the aim of to improve the cooperation of state authorities and civil society in the direction of the implementation of the Strategy and enhancing the role of Civil Society Organizations in preventing violent extremism and fostering closer collaboration with government agencies. The training brought together 50 participants from various key stakeholders including General Prosecutor Office representatives, CSO representatives, Unified Information Center for the Prevention of Extremism, Terrorism and Cybercrimes of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Tajikistan, GPO Secretariat, and CSO Network on PVE representatives.
Dr. Melanie Alamir, project manager of PREVECA in Tajikistan, started the event and noted that the organization and establishment of such a forum for dialogue, as well as bringing together representatives of the civil society and the entities implementing the Strategy, is a solid step towards the implementation of the state policy in the direction of resistance to extremism and terrorism. Dr. Melanie Alamir presented the speech to the head of the Unified Information Center for the Prevention of Extremism, Terrorism and Cybercrimes of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Tajikistan, State Counselor of Justice of the 3rd Level, Mahmudzoda Manuchehr. In his speech, Mahmudzoda Manuchehr gave brief information for the participants on the activities of the Center, Secretariat and cooperation with development partners and civil society.
After that, questions and answers between the participants on the implementation of the strategy of resistance to extremism and terrorism, the role and position of civil society in the direction of resistance to extremism and terrorism, ways and methods of cooperation of civil society with state authorities, problems and obstacles in the activity of civil society, ways of cooperation and solutions to civil society problems were discussed.
Among them, Dodarbek Sayidaliev, head of the "Shahrvand" public organization, spoke about further cooperation and problems of public associations in localities.
Ahmadzoda Azim, Director of EFCA-Tajikistan, also addressed the participants and noted that it is important and timely to organize and hold such a forum for dialogue by the PRECEVA project between CSOs and state authorities. He also addressed the participants and provided insights on the presentation of the website of the GPO Secretariat. Azim emphasized the significance of effectively utilizing online platforms to disseminate information and engage with stakeholders in the fight against violent extremism.
During the next 2 days, on April 25-26 of this year, representatives of the civil society will be trained. Such meetings serve as a platform for knowledge sharing, capacity building and networking among participants and allow participants to develop their understanding of the Strategy for the Prevention of Extremism and Terrorism and strengthen partnerships between civil society and government authorities.
